Drones are democratizing access to airspace and enabling new participants in aviation. Being unmanned, however, such aircraft also give rise to privacy, safety, and regulatory concerns.

At the World Economic Forum’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, a team is actively working on issues. Harrison Wolf leads the Drones and Tomorrow’s Airspace project that aims to develop policies that will be the foundation for industry cooperation, through government regulation and industry-driven standards.

One of the areas where drones can have the most impact now is the delivery of medical supplies to hard-to-reach areas, in a more efficient, and theoretically less expensive, way than ground transportation.
